Introduction:
In digital age, emojis are used six billion times a day and have been described as the fasting growing “language” in history. Some think that emoji is ruining our language and communication skills and is taking us backward to the dark age of illiteracy. Others argue that these symbols enrich our ability to communicate and allow us to express our emotions and induce empathy. In this talk, we will explore how emoji influences human communication and further, discuss the pros and cons of emoji in language learning and education.
