Description

This project aims to improve the Chinese language curriculum at the CUHK by focusing on four main areas. With 5,500 to 6,000 students enrolling in University Chinese annually, the project focuses on expanding subject coverage and providing language activities to cater to diverse learning needs. Firstly, talks and workshops will be conducted as extra-curricular learning opportunities to allow students to choose topics based on their interests. Secondly, digital learning resources will be developed to promote self-learning in order to free up class time for discussions and allow teachers to address students’ individual needs. Thirdly, the project will continue the “Literary CUHK” essay competition to foster a writing culture and compile award-winning works for teaching resources. Last but not least, professional development activities will train the teaching team in digital learning and Chinese language pedagogy, with experts and senior colleagues providing support. This equips teachers with digital literacy and pedagogical knowledge, enabling effective teaching even in unforeseen circumstances.
